Use this online teacher's tool to randomly select a student's name from a list you input. This feature can have several uses: classroom helper, line leader, answering questions, etc. Another suggestion here is to input words with a timer feature, where students work in pairs to guess the word displayed (one student doesn't see the word) - much like a verbal charades - and a great little game for filler activities at the end of the school year. Also, if you have leftover goodies at the end of the year, enter student names and randomly pick a student for each item that you have to give away - it's all fair!
